The work includes the construction of ten subsurface low-pressure-pipe (LPP) system drainfields for disposal of treated wastewater effluent from a future offsite Scalping Wastewater Treatment Plant into the soil. This involves manifold piping, a grid of 2-inch perforated PVC pipe laterals, isolation valves, cleanouts, flushing valves, sand-lined trenches with specified sand and gravel backfill, and site grading. It includes approximately 46,000 linear feet of sand-lined trenches excavated to approximately 8 feet deep. A network of force mains serving the drainfields is also part of the project, with buried isolation valves, valve buildings with stand-mounted electric actuators for operating buried valves, flushing pipe outlets, and associated fittings. The project also requires construction of ten standard metal buildings for housing electric actuators, an electrical conduit and wiring network along the force mains, and a Disposal System Control Building equipped with above-grade piping manifold, motor-operated valves, flow meter, control panels, HVAC, generator, and related systems. Additional elements include a groundwater lowering system with a duplex submersible pump station, groundwater lowering drain system around the perimeter of the proposed drainfields, construction of a gravel pad site with perimeter fence and access gate, site lighting, water yard hydrant, and a buried force main stub-out. The project requires off-site disposal of excess excavated materials and construction of a permanent gravel access road. All bids must comply with state licensing requirements for general contractors, non-collusion requirements, and bid security provisions.
