Demolition, site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Syracuse, New York. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a sidewalk / parking lot; road / highway; and bridge / tunnel.
Design-build services are required for the I-81 Viaduct Project – Phase 2, Contract 7, located in Onondaga County. The project involves reconstructing approximately 1.25 miles of existing I-81 from Butternut Street to the existing Hiawatha Boulevard interchange to convert it into Business Loop 81 (BL 81). The work includes: - Reconstructing and widening I-81/BL 81 northbound to provide four through lanes and southbound with three through lanes, along with widening the shoulders adjacent to both through lanes. - Reconstructing the northbound partial interchange (exit 22) to become the new I-81/BL 81/Bear Street interchange, including demolition of existing ramps, construction of new ramps, and integration with previous contract structures. - Reconstructing and combining existing entrance ramps from Route 370/Old Liverpool Road to southbound BL 81 into a single entrance ramp, and removal of separating guiderails. - Reconstructing portions of the southbound ramps to Hiawatha Boulevard/Destiny USA Drive/Bear Street and adjacent ramps, including approach pavements and construction of a barrier between ramps. - Local street improvements, including widening and restriping North State Street, repaving Catawba Street, and constructing a shared-use path and overlook between Court Street and Hiawatha Boulevard with lighting, signage, and new pavement materials. - Bridge work, including deck replacements and bridge replacements as specified for identified BIN numbers. The selection process involves two steps: a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and a Request for Proposals (RFP). The RFQ will establish the pre-qualification process and provide full details on the required Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). All procurement documents and amendments will be posted online. Potential bidders are advised to communicate only with designated contact persons as specified by New York State Finance Law. The Department reserves the right to change or not proceed with the procurement at its sole discretion. No specific MWBE, SDVOB, or DBE goals are set for this contract.
