The City of Aurora invites qualified contractors to bid on the demolition and disposal of a 180 foot tall, triangular self-support communications tower located at 2680 Church Road in Aurora. The face width of the tower is 4.5 feet at the top and 15 feet at the base. The base bid will include the removal of the tower to the top of foundations (approximately 2 feet above grade), with a bid alternative to excavate and remove the three reinforced concrete foundations (3 feet by 3 feet) to a depth of approximately 5 feet below existing grade. All items connected to the tower, such as antennas and dishes, will be deactivated and disconnected prior to commencement of demolition and shall be disposed of as part of this contract. This item shall include all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for the demolition of the tower to the top of foundations (approximately two (2) feet above existing grade) and will be paid as a Lump Sum for TOWER DEMOLITION. The methodology for the demolition will be at the contractor's discretion but must meet the permitting, safety and responsibility requirements discussed below. The lump sum cost of this item will also include the appropriate disposal of all materials including any and all deactivated items still connected to the tower (such as antennas, dishes, etc.). None of these items will require disconnection from locations or sources not contained on the tower itself, as these disconnections will be made by others prior to demolition. Restoration, which will be considered incidental to this item and will not be paid for separately, shall include returning the tower area and any adjacent areas disturbed during demolition to their current condition.
