Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Manning, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The project consists of PCC paving to connect the existing trail along East Street to Cobblestone Inn & Suites via the Heritage Park access drive. Associated work includes grading, pipe culvert installations, traffic control, and erosion control. Sealed bids must be accompanied by bid security as specified in Iowa Code Section 26.8. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond equal to 100% of the contract price. The bond must guarantee faithful performance, prompt payment, protection and indemnification of the City, and maintenance of the improvement for a specified period (four years for new paving). Preference will be given to products and labor from Iowa as required by law. Minority business enterprises will be given full opportunity to submit bids and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin. Payments will be made on the basis of estimates prepared by the contractor and approved by the engineer. The contractor will be compensated for 97% of work completed, with 3% retainage until final acceptance. The contractor must complete all project work by the specified completion date or face liquidated damages. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities if deemed in their best interest.
