The work consists of the removal and replacement of approximately 1,500 square yards of Class C concrete patches, 100 square yards of Class B concrete patches, 300 square yards of concrete driveway aprons, 1,500 square feet of concrete sidewalk, 1,500 lineal feet of concrete curb and gutter, reconstruction and adjustment of inlets/manholes, traffic control, and other related work. All proposals must be submitted on the forms provided and in compliance with the Instructions to Bidders. Submission of a bid shall be assurance and warranty that the bidder has examined the plans, the site of the work, and the local conditions affecting the contract, and understands all requirements for performance of the work. The bidder is responsible for errors resulting from failure to conduct an in-depth examination and shall not take advantage of any errors or omissions in the plans or proposal. Each bid must be accompanied by a proposal guaranty in the form of a bid bond, cashier's check, or certified check payable to the City of Elmhurst for not less than five percent (5%) of the amount bid. The City of Elmhurst reserves the right to waive technicalities and to reject any or all proposals. The contract award will be made to the lowest responsive responsible bidder, considering all factors deemed relevant by the City. Contract awardees must provide a Labor and Material Payment Bond and a Performance Bond, each in the total amount of the contract sum. The general prevailing rate of wages in DuPage County, as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor, must be paid for applicable work.
