The project focuses on addressing serious safety, accessibility, structural, and environmental issues identified since 2024, including a nonfunctioning elevator with hydraulic leaks, cracked and spalling concrete, deteriorated stairs, holes in the structure, and code violations. Design work for elevator repairs is nearing a major milestone, with approximately 90% of the elevator design plans prepared by the city’s engineering consultant, Tighe & Bond, and under review by state agencies.
