Boardwalk deck lumber shall be hardwood with a modulus of elasticity of not less than 3,129,000 PSI, a bending strength not less than 25,963 PSI, and a shear strength not less than 2,048 PSI. Approved hardwoods include IPE/bethabara, cumaru, and macaranduba. Unacceptable hardwoods include greenheart and angelim vermelho/dinizia excelsum. The market research request seeks detailed cost information for approximately 7,500 linear feet of 5/4 x 6" x 6' boardwalk deck lumber, including the name of the material, country of origin, cost of raw product, transportation costs, customs, duties, taxes, finishing costs, and any other manufacturing costs, documented with supporting materials such as bills of lading, shipping manifests, invoices, and country-of-origin markings to verify compliance with the Buy American Act.
