Demolition, site work and remodeling of a municipal facility in Phoenix, Arizona. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a municipal facility; and for the remodel of a municipal facility.
Demolish the decommissioned 1st Ave Jail, complete the design of and renovate the plaza in front of the Board of Supervisors Auditorium, Central Courts, and East Courts as well as improve the frontage along Jefferson St and 1st Ave. The existing 1st Ave Jail is decommissioned and is beyond its useful life. The plaza is dated and has significant ongoing maintenance issues with there being a basement below. Renovations would modernize the plaza and frontage as well as open the plaza to the South Court Tower along the Madison St pedestrian way. The project is included in the County's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of March 24, 2026, further details have not yet been identified *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
