This project is to remove all dead leg piping sections and re-apply insulation to all hot water piping where insulation is missing. Work includes installing one chlorination injection station per floor, increasing water-heater temperatures to 140 F, and installing mixing valves where they do not exist to prevent scalding. Domestic hot-water return piping will be extended to within six feet of all fixtures, with small mixing valves provided at each sink and lavatory to support increased supply temperatures. Domestic hot-water recirculation pumps will be replaced to achieve a larger flow rate. The project includes installing a chiller, either air-cooled or incorporating a cooling tower and condenser-water system, along with a heat exchanger and chilled-water pumps to cool all incoming domestic water to below 68 F. All existing and new cold-water piping associated with the chilled system will be insulated. An insulated domestic cold-water recirculation loop will be installed parallel to the existing cold-water piping throughout the building. A continuous-monitoring system will be installed to track pH, chlorine levels, and water temperature on incoming domestic water. The work encompasses the 2nd floor and patient areas on the 3rd floor.
