Site work for a mixed-use development in Madisonville, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and playground / park / athletic field.
The City of Madisonville is requesting bids for the construction of a pedestrian path connecting the baseball fields to the soccer fields at Madison Lake Park. The project consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to construct a multi-use pedestrian pathway, including site preparation, grading, base installation, and construction of 4,858 linear feet of 6-foot-wide pedestrian path paved in either concrete or asphalt (specify which or both in the bid). An additional 960 linear feet will also be paved, connecting to a 2,200-foot gravel path over the dam, and all three locations should be included in the bid. Bidders must submit pricing for two areas: Base Bid 1 – Asphalt or concrete pathway; Base Bid 2 – Gravel Pathway. The City reserves the right to award the project based on either option depending on cost and budget considerations. The approximate project length is 5,826 linear feet of pavement (6 feet wide) and 2,200 feet of gravel (4 feet wide). Final alignment will be verified in the field with City staff before construction. Contractor must provide all labor, materials, equipment, traffic control, grading, and site restoration required to complete the project, including but not limited to site preparation and clearing, minor grading and leveling, subgrade preparation and compaction, base material installation, pathway construction (asphalt), edge grading and tie-in to surrounding ground, cleanup, and site restoration. Path design requirements include a minimum usable surface width of 4 feet, maximum cross slope of 2% for drainage, longitudinal slope following natural grade where feasible, and subgrade compacted to a minimum of 95% Standard Proctor. Base material for all paths must be 4 inches of compacted crushed limestone or flex base, mechanically compacted and graded for proper drainage. For the asphalt option (Base Bid), pathway shall have a 2-inch compacted hot mix asphalt surface over a prepared base, rolled and compacted to industry standards, with edges graded to prevent erosion. The gravel pathway over the dam shall have gravel laid over the dam and area graded. If budget allows, the City would also like to replace the bridge with a raised bridge large enough for small personal watercraft to pass under.
