The project consists of the following work: recording static water level, pumping water level, pumping rate, drawdown, and specific capacity before any work; removing and re-installing the roof access hatch; removing and re-installing pumping equipment; furnishing and installing new equipment as authorized by the City in accordance with technical specifications, and refurbishing any equipment to be reused; furnishing and installing a new well draw down measuring tube and connecting it to the existing altitude gauge; redeveloping the well to maximum specific yield capacity, including cable tool surging, pumping, and chemical treatment if required; disinfecting the cleaned well and re-installing pumping equipment; all necessary clean-up, exterior surface repairs, and interior and exterior restoration; and, after completion of all work, recording static water level, pumping water level, pumping rate, drawdown, and specific capacity. The instructions to bidders include the following: sealed proposals must be addressed to the Department of Public Works and endorsed for Contract DPW 26-07, Millbrook Well #2 Rehabilitation; bid security in the form of cash, certified check, treasurer's check, cashier's check, or bid bond of five percent (5%) is required; bids are subject to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30, Section 39M and minimum wage rates per Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149, Sections 26 and 27G; compliance with Chapter 151B and Executive Order No. 74 as amended by Executive Order No. 116 is required for Equal Opportunity Anti-Discrimination and Affirmative Action; a 50% Labor & Materials (Payment) Bond is required if the cost exceeds $25,000; and the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids or waive informalities.
