Renovation of a religious / funeral development in Blacksburg, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a religious / funeral development.

A. The War Memorial Chapel located at 601 Drillfield Drive on the campus of Virginia Tech is a chapel with roof-top court overlooking the drill field. Memorial Court includes eight sculptured Indiana limestone pylons organized around a granite cenotaph. The names of alumni who died in military service are carved in the limestone. The names of alumni awarded the Medal of Honor are carved in the granite. The courtyard is covered with flagstone on multiple layers of setting materials and waterproofing. B. The scope of Work is intended to address the following conditions: 1. Pylons a. Deteriorated mortar joints between the limestone panels. b. Stained limestone panels including limestone panels with panels with carvings. c. Discolored and/or cracked limestone panels at base of pylons. d. Cracked limestone panels at the base of some of the pylons. e. The limestone panels and carvings on the faces of the pylons are stained. f. Some of the light fixtures in the pylons are not operational and/or do not provide sufficient lighting. 2. Paving a. Cracked flagstone pavers. b. Loose flagstone pavers. c. Stained flagstone pavers. d. Deteriorated mortar joints between the flagstone pavers. e. Broken lenses of light fixtures in pavement. f. Water in some of the light fixtures in the pavement g. Water in conduits for light fixtures in pavement. h. Some of the light fixtures in the pavement are not operational. i. Light fixtures in pavement do not provide sufficient lighting. j. Stained granite riser/treads at stairs. 3. Parapet Walls a. Stained limestone copings. b. Deteriorated mortar joints between limestone copings c. Stained Hokie stone masonry d. Deteriorated mortar joints in the Hokie stone masonry. e. Water is present in some of the light fixtures and the conduits in parapet walls. f. Some of the light fixtures in the parapet walls are not operational. g. Light fixtures in parapet walls do not provide sufficient lighting. h. The mortar between the limestone copings is deteriorated.
