This notice announces an Industry Day for the Brandon Road Interbasin Project to provide industry awareness of an upcoming construction contract and to solicit contractor feedback to improve design efficiency and cost effectiveness. The Brandon Road Interbasin Project is a critical control point intended to prevent invasive species, including invasive carp, from entering the Great Lakes. The project will construct and operate a series of deterrent measures within the lock chamber and approach channel while maintaining safe and efficient river navigation. When complete, the project will include electric, hydroacoustic, and bubble deterrent systems integrated with navigation operations. The overall project is divided into three construction increments. Increment I, the Leading Edge, includes an automated barge clearing deterrent, bubble curtain deterrent, acoustic deterrent, leading edge support facilities, an upstream boat ramp, and channel rock excavation. Increment II, which is the focus of this Industry Day, includes construction of a Flushing Lock, a Right Descending Bank wall, and associated channel rock excavation. Increment III, the Engineered Channel, includes an electric deterrent, acoustic deterrent for the engineered channel, a support facilities building, engineered channel floor and walls, and a downstream boat ramp. The Industry Day presentation will provide background on the project, construction phasing and sequencing, the current status of the Increment II design, and detailed information on the Flushing Lock and Right Descending Bank wall design. Contractors will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide input on design features to support more efficient and cost-effective construction approaches. Draft plan sets for the Flushing Lock and Right Descending Bank wall are provided for industry review to support meaningful feedback and engagement. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time.
