Sealed bids are requested for the construction of the EAST 23RD STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT in Hibbing, MN (S.AP. 131-185-010). The project includes the following approximate quantities: removal of 8,394 SY bituminous pavement, 7,973 CY common excavation, 2,800 CY select granular borrow, 2,800 CY aggregate base class 5, 800 TON type SP 9.5 wear course mixture (2,B), 2,030 TON type SP 12.5 non-wear course mixture (2,B), 13,520 SF 4" concrete walk, 2,756 SF 6" concrete walk, 3,596 LF concrete curb and gutter design B618, 1,200 LF 8" watermain (trenchless), and 560 LF (4" - 12") PVC watermain. All work shall be in accordance with city plans and specifications. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check, bidder's bond, or cash deposit of at least 5% of the bid amount, which will be forfeited if the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract. The deposits of the three lowest bidders may be retained for up to 45 days after bid opening. No bid may be withdrawn for this 45-day period. No late bids will be accepted. Electronic bid documents may be requested via email at no charge. Paper copies of proposal forms, plans, and specifications are available from the Office of the City Engineer upon payment of a non-refundable $100 deposit. The City Council reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive irregularities and informalities, and award the contract in the best interest of the city.
