The City of Palm Springs is seeking an engineering firm to provide full construction management services for the East Palm Canyon Bridge Rehabilitation Project. The project extends along East Palm Canyon Drive from about 600 feet west to 1,700 feet east of the bridge. The Consultant will oversee the project from start to finish, including contract administration, reviewing submittals and payments, keeping project records, and providing on-site inspection for all bridge, structural, electrical, roadway, and civil work. Responsibilities also include environmental compliance, materials testing, survey verification, traffic control oversight, and preparing all required reports and documentation. Coordination with utilities, regulatory agencies, Caltrans, and participation in project meetings will also be required. The firm must provide a licensed Professional Engineer with at least 10 years of bridge construction experience as Project Manager, along with full-time inspectors, materials testing staff, specialty inspectors, and administrative support. All work must follow applicable state, federal, and City of Palm Springs standards and regulations. The project will seismically retrofit, rehabilitate, and widen the East Palm Canyon Drive Bridge over Palm Canyon Wash, along with upgrading the adjacent pedestrian bridge. It also includes a new traffic signal at East Palm Canyon Drive and Southridge Drive. Improvements span from 600 feet west to 1,700 feet east of the bridge, widening the roadway to provide standard lanes, bike-lane shoulders, a center median, and a protected south-side sidewalk, with approach restriping for better alignment and safety. Construction will be staged to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction for the duration of the project, with short-term closures anticipated only during stage transitions. The bridge widening will occur on both sides of the existing structure.
