Bids are invited for the removal of hazardous materials from the Former St. Elizabeth Hospital. The work includes the removal of approximately 33,650 square feet of asbestos flooring and mastics, 3,000 linear feet of asbestos-containing thermal systems insulation, and other miscellaneous asbestos materials. Additional removals include fluorescent lighting and ballasts, mercury thermostats, smoke detectors, and miscellaneous other materials. Demolition of the structure will be accomplished under a separate contract. Prospective bidders are responsible for providing their own personal protective equipment (PPE) and complying with all OSHA requirements. Entry into the building for inspection requires signing a hold harmless agreement. Contract documents, including plans and specifications, may be obtained electronically at no charge. Printing and shipping costs for hard copies are the responsibility of the Contractor. Registration with City Blue as a prime or sub bidder is required to receive addendums and notices. A certified check, bank draft, negotiable U.S. Government bonds (at par value), or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety in the amount of 5% of the total bid must be submitted with each bid. No less than the minimum salaries and wages set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid, and the Contractor must ensure nondiscrimination in employment practices. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids or waive informality in the bidding. Bids may be held for up to 30 days for review and investigation of bidder qualifications prior to awarding the contract.
