Sealed proposals, in duplicate, from Qualified General Contractors are requested for EXTERIOR RENOVATIONS TO CAREER ACADEMIES PHASE II. Bids must be received at the specified location by the designated time and date. Bids received via mail and not presented at the bid opening are considered non-responsive. It is the bidder's responsibility to ensure timely delivery. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to the Decatur City Board of Education in an amount not less than five percent of the proposal amount (not to exceed $10,000) is required with the bid. Performance and Payment Bonds and evidence of insurance are required at contract signing. Drawings and specifications can be examined at the architect's office and at the digital plan room. Contractors must provide evidence of proper licensing for the work's classification before obtaining plans and specifications. General Contractor Bidders may obtain digital and hard copy sets of drawings/specifications upon application to the architect and will then be placed on the Official Bidders List. Only holders of documents from the architect and on the Official Bidders List will receive addenda and proposal information. Bids from contractors not on this list may not be accepted or opened. Bids must be submitted on forms furnished by the architect or copies thereof, as included in the contract documents or issued via addendum. General contractors must not use other proposal forms. All bidders exceeding state licensing board limits must be licensed under the Code of Alabama, Title 34, Chapter 8. The general contractor's license number must be displayed on the sealed envelope. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors in the owner's best interest.
