Zuber Draw Site No. 1 EWP Zuber 1 Reference Number 0000419470 The project involves reconstructing the auxiliary spillway (300-Foot in width) by removing eroded alluvium, excavating gullies and damaged areas, and preparing a stable subgrade foundation. The repaired spillway will be rebuilt with compacted earthfill placed in controlled lifts and compacted to specified moisture and density requirements, using primarily on-site CL-type soils verified through laboratory testing. A six-inch veneer of lime-treated earthfill (LTE), containing approximately 4% quicklime by weight, will be applied over the finished grade to reduce desiccation cracking and minimize surface erosion (rilling), though it is not intended to serve as a hydraulic or structural component. The project also includes reconstructing damaged containment dikes, disposing of unsuitable materials, and placing topsoil on areas not covered by LTE to blend the spillway with surrounding terrain. Construction quality will be monitored through compaction, pH, and plasticity testing, and the finished LTE surface will be textured to reduce runoff impacts.
