Sealed bids are invited for furnishing all labor and materials, and performing all work required for the widening, resurfacing, and striping of Fiber Road at Norfolk Southern Railroad (Project No.: RA49-01-21 and CIP-2017-018). Thirty working days are allowed for project completion. All bids must use the forms provided in the specifications and be submitted in their entirety. A bid guaranty (cashier's check or bidder’s bond) of at least 5% of the bid amount, not to exceed $10,000, is required. A performance bond and a labor and materials bond, each for not less than the contract price, will be required at contract signing, along with a certificate of insurance coverage. The project is bid excluding taxes and must comply with certain Alabama codes and requirements. The County reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. Liquidated damages may be assessed for non-completion within the agreed time. Prime contractor bidders must deposit $100 for each set of specifications, refundable upon timely return of the documents. Only properly licensed and qualified bidders, in accordance with Alabama law, will be considered. Contractors must hold at least one of the specified major classifications of license. Out-of-state businesses must demonstrate authority to operate in Alabama. Proof of enrollment in E-Verify is required before contract award if applicable.
