Site work and new construction of a military facility in Mission, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a military facility.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has awarded a contract to construct approximately 34 miles of new border barrier in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, extending from Rio Grande City to Weslaco. The project includes construction through environmentally and historically sensitive areas such as the National Butterfly Center in Mission, Texas, La Lomita Chapel, Bentsen State Park, Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, and nearby historic cemeteries. The scope includes construction of a reinforced concrete levee wall adjacent to the existing flood levee, topped with 30-foot-tall steel bollard panels, along with related “Smart Wall” infrastructure intended to enhance security and flood protection. As of May 5, 2026, the project is completed. The firm timelines were not released.
