Bid Item 005 Requires All contractors shall be Massachusetts Department of Transportation approved for this category of work in order to be eligible to place a bid. The contract period shall be from July 01, 2026 through June 30, 2027 It's the intentions of the Town of Mansfield to issue a contract for Installation of Granite Curbing, Form, Place and Finish Concrete and Repair Services FY 27. The work to be done under this contract shall include but not be limited to work needed for sidewalk construction including excavation, wheelchair ramps, installation of granite curbs, and resetting of curbs and edges as directed. The Town of Mansfield will supply all materials for this contract such as granite curbing, concrete, expansion joint materials and all other necessary materials needed. Please coordinate with Highway Operations Manager for access to said materials. Item 1: o Forming/placing and finishing of concrete sidewalk areas 1 sided. The work consists of work needed for placing forms, placing concrete, finishing concrete to the standard specifications for walkways and placing town supplied barricades and tape after process is completed. Any areas that are part of new construction that require installation of handicap ramps, as directed by Highway Operations Manager, shall be installed as part of the unit price per square foot for this item. Note: Handicap ramps that are part of this item are included and not part of item 4. Item 2: o Item 2 is the same scope of work as Item 1 but would be 2 sided forms. Any areas that are part of new construction that require installation of handicap ramps, as directed by Highway Operations Manager, shall be installed as part of the unit price per foot for this item. Note: Handicap ramps that are part of this item are included and not part of item 4. Item 3: o New granite vertical curb construction is to include the necessary excavation and setting of vertical granite curbing (20' or larger radius is treated as straight curb) along areas designated by the Highway Operations Manager. All areas will be prepared for such installation by the Town of Mansfield prior to contractor arriving for work. Contractor's general responsibility is as follows: o Excavate trench for installation of vertical granite curbing. o Install vertical granite curbing in neat and true lines as directed. o Any areas that are part of new construction that require installation of handicap ramps, as directed by Highway Operations Manager, shall be installed as part of the unit price per foot of this item. Note: Handicap ramps that are part of this item are included and not part of item 4. o Pour concrete around said curbing as directed. o Mortar joints as directed. Item 3A: o New granite vertical curb radius construction (less than 20' radius) is to include the necessary excavation and setting of vertical granite curbing along areas designated by the Highway Operations Manager. All areas will be prepared for such installation by the Town of Mansfield prior to contractor arriving for work. Contractor's general responsibility is as follows: o Excavate trench for installation of vertical granite curbing (less than 20' radius) o Any areas that are part of new construction that require installation of handicap ramps, as directed by Highway Operations Manager, shall be installed as part of the unit price per foot of this item. Note: Handicap ramps that are part of this item are included and not part of item 4. o Install vertical granite curbing in neat and true lines as directed. o Pour concrete around said curbing as directed. o Mortar joints as directed Item 4: o Handicap ramps reconstruct/install in existing areas not compliant or upgrading. The contractor will be responsible for all demo of the existing conditions that presently exist, layout to code compliance the proposed handicap ramp and do the necessary work to repair and/or reconstruct the area to be handicap ramp compliant. It is assumed that many areas will consist of 20-30 feet of disturbed sidewalk area and possibility of setting or resetting the curbing and forming, placing and finishing concrete in that area to be compliant. Any asphalt patching along curbing will be done by the town and any new ramps will be done in concrete unless otherwise directed. If demo needs to be removed the town will supply a truck and any materials required working alongside the contractor whom will load truck. This item is only for new handicap ramp installations or reconstruction handicap ramps in existing areas. This lie item shouldn't be confused with handicap ramps installed as part of new curbing installation projects.
