Sealed bids are requested for furnishing Drainage Improvements and related work. Each bid must include a bid security in the form of a bid bond, cash, or certified check in the amount of 5% of the bid price. A performance bond and a labor and materials bond, each for 100% of the contract price, will be required. Bids are subject to public bidding laws of Massachusetts and minimum wage rates as set by the Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development. Selection will be based on bidder qualifications including evidence of past performance and bid price. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible and eligible bidder. The Town reserves the right to waive informalities or to accept or reject any or all bids, in whole or in part, as may be deemed in the best interest of the Town. On-site meeting with Engineer and Town Representative, prior to construction for coordination and implementation of the project. Cut brush back as needed along edge of project area in order to provide adequate access for construction vehicles and reconstruction of the roadway. Labor and materials required to cut and remove the existing pavement. Install the two (2) precast solid catch basins to replace two of the existing basins. Reconnect the drain pipe from the two existing catch basins (north & south of island). Install drainage facility, as specified on the Plan. Supply all required clean sandy soil for backfill. All backfill material shall be installed in 6-inch lifts. Grade and compact base material, prior to paving. Provide a minimum of 12 inches of road base material in all areas of the pavement patching. Install 2 1/2 inch layer (rolled) of MADOT Class 1 Bituminous Concrete Binder Course. Sweep and tack the roadway, prior to completing the final overlay paving. Install and roll 1 1/2 inch (rolled) of MADOT Class 1 Bituminous Concrete Finish Course. Provide the pavement stripping as noted on Plan. Loam and seed disturbed areas.
