Fellows Rd. - Local Road with roadway length of approximately 1,600 ft. Furman Rd. - Minor Collector with roadway length of approximately 4,700 ft. Fuqua St. - Collector with roadway length of approximately 7,905 ft. The overall length of all the three roadways combined is approximately 14,205 ft. Project involves roadside improvements to existing asphalt roadway for three streets - Fuqua Street, Furman Road, and Fellows Road. The scope of the project is to investigate improvements to the existing open roadside ditches, drainage outfalls, and culvert replacements, as needed, to ensure capacity and positive drainage on a portion of the Fuqua Road. Also, improve intersection geometry for turning movements and develop proper methods to reinforce edges of existing pavement at intersections and culvert crossings and evaluate impacts on permitted driveway accesses. It will also include improvements to existing traffic signs and pavement markings. Improvements to the existing open roadside ditches, drainage outfalls, and culvert replacements, as needed, to ensure capacity and positive drainage on a portion of the Fuqua Road. Assess intersection geometry for turning movements and develop proper methods to reinforce edges of existing pavement at intersections and culvert crossings. The scope also includes development of Traffic Control Plans and preparation of preliminary study report of the roadways. The report contains assessment of roadways and recommends improvement methods, such as full depth reconstruction (FDR) and other relevant methods based on Geotechnical investigations. Based on the findings and field observations, full depth reconstruction of all three roads is suggested and some grading to roadside ditches to achieve positive flow. Drainage assessment for Furman Road and Fellows Road are out-of-scope for this project. Also, utility conflict assessments for Furman Road and Fellows Road are out-of-scope for this project. A drainage memorandum is prepared for the recommendations given as an appendix to this report. Also, discussed in the scoping meeting, the alignment of the roadway was to be maintained same including top of pavement elevations, grades, and roadside features. The project is more or less like maintenance or retrofitting work.
