In the aftermath of the Hurricane Harvey flooding, City Staff identified damage to our local drainage infrastructure and began working with FEMA through their Public Assistance Program. This program is commonly referred to as a Section 406 Grant. This program pays a minimum of 75% of the repair and mitigation costs. The City received a notice of award for repair and mitigation work at 6 sites: Newport Ditch & Genco Canal Removed from program Phase 1 Package A Complete FY2022 Gum Bayou, Robinson Bayou, Northpoint Detention Pond Phase 1 Package B Complete FY2024 Interurban Ditch FY2026 - $1,154,291 Phase 2 Mag Creek construction anticipated FY2026 (Project is combined with DR1906 Magnolia Creek & Cedar Gully Channel Improvements) Funding for reimbursement will come from CIP Sales Tax, fund 5016. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of April 13,2026, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
