The Authority is leading the Canada Place Shore Power Expansion Project (“Project”) to upgrade shore power infrastructure at the Port of Vancouver’s cruise terminal and increase cruise ships’ access to B.C.’s low-emission hydroelectricity while at berth. The Project will be delivered through a funding partnership between the Authority and the Government of Canada. As part of the Project, the Authority will install two new shore power connection stations (each with a fivemetre cable reach) at the Canada Place cruise terminal (the “Site”). These upgrades will increase the total number of shore power connection stations available at Canada Place from three to five, increasing the opportunities for alignment between visiting ships’ shore power connection systems and the terminal’s connection stations along both the east and west berths. With this expanded infrastructure, more cruise ships equipped with ship-to-shore power systems will be able to use low-emission hydroelectricity as their primary power source while at berth at Canada Place.
