Site work and paving for a road / highway in Atlanta, Georgia. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
Road repair services are anticipated on Forest Road 86 within the Monongahela National Forest. Work includes repairing base failures and pavement failures and resurfacing the roadway. Activities include milling or sawing pavement and excavating unsuitable material from failed areas as designated in the plans. Base failure repairs consist of placing rock and separation fabric to create French drains as needed, placing and compacting aggregate base stone, and placing hot mix asphalt base material to restore the roadway to original grade. After base repairs are completed, a combination of hot mix asphalt patching, leveling, and wearing courses will be placed throughout the entire project area. Road shoulders will be scarified, topsoil and vegetation removed, and aggregate placed and compacted to construct two shoulders. Milled hot mix asphalt material will be hauled to Forest Road 101 and placed in approximately three-inch-deep compacted lifts across the full road width in designated areas. All hot mix asphalt must be produced at a West Virginia Department of Highways certified asphalt plant, and contractors must account for time- and temperature-sensitive placement requirements. All work shall be performed by qualified personnel using safe, sound, and efficient construction practices in accordance with the draft Statement of Work and applicable specifications. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time.
