Renovation of a fire / police facility in Cavendish, Vermont. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.
Cavendish Fire District #2 is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the installation of a combination ducted and ductless heat pump system. The bid is for a job contract located in Windsor. The scope of work involves the installation of heating equipment, specifically a combination of ducted and ductless heat pumps. Qualified HVAC, electrical, or general contractors are encouraged to bid. Question Deadline 04/30/2026 at 4:00 PM ET Fire District Contact: Stuart Lindberg Cavendish Fire District #2 2154 Main Street Cavendish, VT 05142 802-503-7350 loveuvermont@gmail.com The combination ducted and ductless heat pump system to be installed is described in detail in mechanical and electrical plans, specifications and schedules prepared by DuBois & King and included in the "Cavendish FD Energy Improvements" construction documents provided by Stevens & Associates. All work shall be performed in accordance with the construction documents, Bulletin #1, and the General Conditions for Construction Contract. Replacing the existing water heater with a new stand-alone heat pump water heater is listed on the bid form as an alternate and may be included in the contracted work if funding allows. The solar carport project is part of a larger energy improvement project for the building that includes installing a heat pump system, air sealing and wall insulation, window replacement, and LED lighting upgrades. ADA improvements may also be included depending on funding availability. The project is being funded with a Municipal Energy Resilience Program (MERP) grant awarded by the Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS). The grant explicitly prioritizes weatherization and HVAC improvements over resiliency measures like solar arrays, and limits ADA improvements to 20% of construction costs. As a result, the Fire District may not have sufficient funding to award a contract for the solar carport project
