This project addresses a section of asphalt roadway that was compromised by hydraulic scour, resulting in pavement undermining, loss of subgrade support, and erosion of the adjacent embankment near the bridge abutment. Work includes removal of the damaged pavement, excavation of the full extent of undermined material, and placement of flowable fill and TxDOT-approved compacted embankment to re-establish a stable foundation. The roadway will be reconstructed with new flexible pavement layers in accordance with TxDOT Standard Specifications to restore full structural capacity and serviceability. In addition to roadway restoration, the project includes rebuilding eroded embankment slopes using suitable embankment materials placed in controlled, compacted lifts to achieve long-term stability. Disturbed areas will be regraded to re-establish proper drainage and protect against future erosion. At the bridge abutment, undermined riprap will be backfilled using flowable fill to re-support RIPRAP and eliminate pathways for future scour. Final stabilization measures including topsoil, seeding, and erosion control will be applied to all reconstructed slopes to ensure durable performance under varying hydraulic conditions.
