The work consists of the construction of water system improvements on Bellflower Boulevard from Foster Road to Lakewood Boulevard. This includes potable water main improvements, installation of new main, fire hydrant assemblies, water service lines, meters and boxes; installation of gate valves, tees, bends, thrust blocks, and fittings; abandoning existing water mains, service lines, and other related facilities; removal and salvaging of existing fire hydrant assemblies, water meters, and boxes; clearing and grubbing; trenching, backfilling and compacting; asphalt concrete and Portland cement concrete pavement reconstruction; reconstruction of miscellaneous concrete improvements, landscaping, irrigation, and other existing improvements disturbed during construction; traffic control; and all labor, tools, materials, equipment, and related necessary work. Each bid must be accompanied by a corporate surety bond of no less than ten percent (10%) of the bid amount. The Performance and Payment Bond must each be one hundred percent (100%) of the total bid amount. Bidders must secure Workers' Compensation and liability insurance, execute the contract, and submit the required bonds. Only surety companies admitted to business in California are acceptable. Failure to submit acceptable Payment and Performance Bonds will result in rejection and forfeiture of the bid guarantee. Contractors must comply with California Labor Code provisions and pay prevailing wages. A valid State of California Contractor's License in the Classification of A (General Engineering Contractor) or C34 (Pipeline Contractor) is required.
