The project involves the permanent repair of the Shimmer Wall at the Raleigh Convention Center. The work includes removing existing, damaged wide-flanged beam members, replacing metal decking and cross bracing in kind to restore the structure to the original design intent, and covering all inspection and permitting fees. The contractor is to provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to perform permanent structural repairs resulting from a localized fire on December 1, 2025. The scope includes selective demolition and removal of fire-damaged steel members, removal and replacement of approximately eight damaged steel beams, replacement of cross bracing and structural connections, installation of new metal roof decking in affected areas, welding, anchoring, installation of structural connections, cleaning, surface preparation, painting of affected steel, coordination with temporary reinforcement measures, provision of temporary protection, safety measures, and debris containment, traffic control and pedestrian management, and coordination with facility operations to minimize disruptions. The contractor is to restore the structural integrity to meet all applicable codes, standards, and design requirements. All work must be performed in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable City of Raleigh standards. Bids must be submitted as a single lump sum covering all related costs.
