Renovation of a military facility in Charlton, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a military facility.
The work involves repairs and upgrades to the existing HVAC systems to address aging equipment and thermal comfort issues within the facility. Scope includes removal and replacement of existing fan coil units and condensing units with new heat pump systems, installation of ceiling-hung electric unit heaters to provide auxiliary heat, and integration of programmable thermostats for system control. A new energy recovery ventilator will be installed to provide building air ventilation. All existing finned tube radiation will be cleaned, and all existing and new heating hot water piping and domestic hot and cold-water piping will be fully insulated. The existing nonfunctional radiant slab system will be partially removed by taking out accessible components, with the remaining under-slab piping abandoned in place.
