Work includes full reconstruction of the existing parking lot with proper sub-base and base materials, regrading the site to address drainage and water retention issues, and adding new drainage features to prevent future settling, cracking, and freeze/thaw damage. The project also includes construction of sidewalks and designated pedestrian walking areas, improvements to accessible parking, and upgrades to site lighting to enhance public safety and accessibility. The existing parking lot has inadequate sub-base materials and clay-rich soils that retain water, resulting in widespread alligator cracking and surface failure, which this project will remediate to improve long-term performance and public access.
