The work to be done generally consists of replacing a 52"x40" corrugated metal pipe arch with a 54" reinforced concrete pipe, trench excavation and backfill, placement of rock slope protection, and striping. Bids must cover the entire project, and neither partial nor contingent bids will be considered. You are required to subcontract a minimum of 23% of your bid in accordance with the Mandatory Subcontracting Minimum requirements. The Contractor must possess a valid Class A License at the time the Contract is awarded. Prior to submitting a bid, the Contractor and subcontractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations and qualified to perform public work pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5, subject to limited legal exceptions under Labor Code section 1771.1. The successful bidder must furnish a payment bond and a performance bond. The Public Works Department will retain 5 percent of the contract price until final completion and acceptance of the project. Bidders are hereby notified that securities may be substituted for any monies withheld by the County of Contra Costa to ensure performance under the construction contract, in accordance with Public Contract Code Section 22300 and the General Conditions of the Contract.
