Site work and paving for a road / highway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway.
The work includes the removal of existing pavement and replacement with 8" PCC pavement on a 6" modified subbase; 7" HMA pavement; subdrain; intakes; 12" - 24" storm sewer; PCC driveways; sidewalk; traffic control; earthwork; excavation; backfill; sitework; erosion control; seeding and miscellaneous associated work including cleanup. All proposals and bids must be submitted to the City Clerk on official bidding blanks furnished by the City. Each proposal must be sealed and plainly identified, accompanied by bid security in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid, in the form of a certified or cashier's check, certified share draft, or bid bond. The bid security must be payable to the CITY OF SHUEYVILLE, IOWA and must not contain any conditions. Bidders must use the bid bond form bound in the specifications. No proposal may be withdrawn within thirty (30) days after the bid opening date. The successful bidder must furnish a bond equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, issued by a responsible surety and approved by the City Council, guaranteeing faithful performance, prompt payment for all materials and labor, indemnification of the City, and guaranteeing the work against faulty workmanship and materials for four (4) years after acceptance. Contractors and subcontractors must obtain tax exemption certificates from the City for this project. Liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day will be assessed for each day the work remains uncompleted beyond the contract period. Payment to the Contractor will be made on the basis of monthly estimates, with ninety-seven percent (97%) paid monthly and the remaining three percent (3%) paid at least thirty-one (31) days after final acceptance. Preference is given to products and labor from Iowa, and all bidders must submit a fully completed Bidder Status Form with their proposal. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. Copies of said plans and specifications are now on file in the office of the City Clerk, for examination by bidders.
