PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Mill and overlay of streets, reconstruction of curb and gutter and sidewalks. Sealed proposals are required. Bid security must be 5 percent of the total bid amount. Proposals must contain no conditions except as provided in specifications. Successful bidders must enter into a contract and provide acceptable Performance, Payment, and Maintenance Bond and Certificate of Insurance within ten days after bid acceptance, or security may be forfeited. Preference is given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, as required by law. Sales tax is not to be included in the bid; tax exemption certificates will be provided for construction materials. Project documents are available through the City of Newton Public Works office. The work will be substantially completed on or before 10/31/2026, and completed and ready for final payment in accordance with General Conditions on or before 10/31/2026.
