Completed plans call for the demolition of a fire / police facility; for the construction of a 27,838-square-foot fire / police facility; for site work for a fire / police facility; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

The project involves the new construction of a single-story, Type V-B Police Headquarters building for the City of Indio, totaling approximately 27,838 square feet. The project also includes demolition of the existing police headquarters after the new headquarters is complete. The total project scope area is approximately 153,000 square feet with about 21,000 square feet of landscape and 34,000 square feet of asphalt improvements. The facility is designed to meet the stringent structural standards of the Essential Service Act for critical infrastructure. It will include a dedicated emergency generator with sufficient on-site fuel storage to provide 72 hours of backup power. The existing police headquarters on the site will be fully demolished and replaced with new site improvements, including new parking areas, an outdoor sallyport, 8'-0" tall perimeter security CMU walls, and CMU enclosures for electrical equipment.
