Renovation of an educational facility in Midland, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 11,760-square-foot educational facility.
The scope of work includes removal and installation of 225 square feet of gym flooring, sanding approximately 11,760 square feet of gym flooring, repainting all original markings, and applying two coats of sealer and two coats of finish to the sanded floor area. Contractors must have at least five years of experience in similar work and provide three references from the 2025-26 timeframe. All buildings and furnishings must be protected from damage during the project, and any damages caused must be repaired or replaced at the contractor's expense. The contractor is responsible for protecting items and equipment from dust and for removing debris daily. Specifications require the removal of approximately 225 square feet of damaged wood flooring, installation of new maple flooring to match the original, sanding all flooring to level out cupping, removal of baseboards prior to sanding, repainting all original markings with ACT Game Line Paint or an equivalent product, and application of two coats of seal and two coats of finish, using district-supplied SportsKote PC for the final coats. Bidders must hold state project registration, pay prevailing wage, and submit associated documentation and pay records. A bid bond of 5% of the base bid is required. All materials and construction are guaranteed free from defects for one year after completion. The contractor must comply with all federal and state laws, including MIOSHA, and will be responsible for any fines attributed to them. Insurance certificates must be provided, and minimum coverage limits are specified for commercial general liability, excess liability, fidelity bond, automobile liability, and workers' compensation. Bids must be submitted on the provided form with all required documentation, and two copies should be addressed to the designated school official. The project can start after June 29, 2026 and must be completed by July 31, 2026. The contractor should include a schedule in the RFP. The Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any bids or items and to waive informalities.
