Enhance pedestrian access over Grand Portage Creek via the historic Mile Creek Stone Bridge to a newly defined parking area at the intersection of Pines Road and the abandoned Mile Creek Road adjacent to the Pines Picnic Area, and improve vehicular safety by removing abandoned roadway pavement at the intersection of Pines Road and the newly realigned Mile Creek Road. Work includes full-depth sawcutting and removal of approximately 4,472 square feet of existing asphalt pavement and aggregate subbase; milling approximately 9,081 square feet of existing asphalt at a 2-inch depth with haul-off and disposal or recycling of millings; and removal of approximately 3,606 square feet of aggregate shoulders adjacent to existing pavement. Improvements also include placement of imported topsoil; installation and removal of silt fence; installation of erosion control blankets; asphalt overlay and new asphalt pavement wearing courses; aggregate subbase and filter fabric installation; scarifying and recompacting subgrade; installation of accessible parking signage and bollards; concrete wheel stops; and permanent painted pavement striping, symbols, and lettering. Work is anticipated to begin in late summer or fall 2026. The Magnitude of Construction anticipated is between $100,000 and $250,000.
