Renovation of a mixed-use development in Hopewell Junction, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

https://midhudsonnews.com/2026/05/16/school-district-works-with-local-trade-unions-for-capital-improvements/ HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Following voter approval of the $153.7 million capital improvement project, the Wappinger Central School District (WCSD) Board of Education (BOE) signed a Project Labor Agreement that guarantees the use of local skilled union labor to expedite the project and reduce the chance of work stoppages while putting many local union workers on the project. The agreement between the WCSD and the Hudson Valley Trades Council “We are very proud to work with the Hudson Valley Building and Construction Trades Council (HVBCTC) and our local labor organizations, who are the heartbeat of our region,” noted Dr. Dwight Bonk, Superintendent of Schools. “Having them involved in District projects means putting our people to work on our jobs.” In addition, this agreement will establish pathways for apprenticeship programs for district students. “We will be able to bring our students into these opportunities, train them, and have them participate in this project along with organized labor,” Dr. Bonk added. “This will be a transformational project for the school district, and I thank our Board and labor organizations for their work in moving this forward.” The multi-year project includes additions to both junior high schools, which will create more opportunities for grades 6-8, and more room in elementary buildings. It also includes essential improvements to athletic facilities, and many other structural upgrades and repairs district-wide. ------------------------------- 2025 District Wide Renovations Phase 1 The work will be bid as a single Prime Contract.
