SummaryProject Description: The Project consists of the construction of a new county jail facility on the site immediately adjacent to the existing county jail. The project will be built in multiple phases under a single contract. The existing jail facility will remain in operation during the construction until the completion and occupancy of the new facility. The new building will consist of two phases. Phase 1 includes the new administrative and support functions for the operation of the facility including offices, food service, booking/intake facilities with enclosed sallyport, laundry, inmate property storage, classrooms, staff support areas and a medical unit. Additionally, Phase 1 will include housing units for 240 beds consisting of 4 traditional cell blocks (30-beds each) with two-person cells, and 4 dormitory style blocks (30 beds each). Supervision of the housing units is provided in two control rooms located at a mezzanine level and connected by a corridor with each control room having visibility into 4 housing units. Phase 2 consists of Part A (Base Bid) of a housing pod for 120 beds and Alternate #1 if accepted for an additional 120 beds. The Phase two housing pod is similar in design to the Phase 1 housing pod. Upon the completion of Phase 1 and Phase 2, Phase 3 (Alternate #2) will consist of the demolition of the existing jail facility and sealing of the existing security tunnel that connects the existing jail facility to the adjacent Judicial Complex. The existing facility will be demolished including removal of the foundations and the removal and capping of the existing utilities. The security tunnel, once sealed at each end, will be fully grouted. Contract Scope: Construction, demolition, and facility occupancy and operation during construction operations .
