Roadway and parking area paving work is required at two recreation areas. At Cadiz Recreation Area, the work includes rehabilitating approximately 1,350 linear feet of roadway and five parking areas by addressing pavement distress such as alligatoring, longitudinal and transverse cracking, raveling, and shoulder damage. The work involves replacing existing corrugated metal pipe culverts with smooth-wall HDPE pipe, resurfacing approximately 10,900 square yards of pavement, installing base material and new pavement, and placing compacted dense-graded aggregate along roadway and parking shoulders. At Canal Campground, the work includes rehabilitation of approximately three miles of roadway and nine parking areas affected by similar pavement failures. The scope consists of milling and replacing approximately 22,000 square yards of roadway and 3,000 square yards of parking areas, removing the top two inches of pavement, applying a tack coat, and placing a leveling course in accordance with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet standards. Limited base course repairs or leveling may be required prior to repaving. The work also includes removal of twelve existing corrugated metal pipes and replacement with smooth-wall HDPE pipes. All construction must comply with KYTC standards, applicable DOT regulations, and seasonal constraints requiring work to occur after campground closure and be completed prior to reopening.
