Demolition, site work and renovation of a detention facility in Tooele, Utah. Completed plans call for the demolition of a detention facility; for the renovation of a detention facility; and for site work for a detention facility.
Questions Due Date: May 13th 2026, 5:00 PM MDT The project consists of partial demolition of the existing Tooele County Jail facility, primarily involving removal of the existing two-level jail wing and associated support spaces. The majority of the existing administration portion of the facility will remain. This includes, but is not limited to, structural stabilization, preparation of remaining building elements for new exterior finishes, and coordination of all related improvements to adjacent construction. The contractor will be responsible for all required permitting and regulatory compliance, including coordination with Tooele City and obtaining the required demolition notification/permit through the Utah Department of Air Quality (DAQ). On February 13 th , 2026, Wasatch Environmental, Inc. (Wasatch) performed an asbestos and hazardous materials survey at the above-referenced property. The purpose of this survey was to identify asbestos-containing in anticipation of demolition activities. This survey was conducted on a two-story, approximately 15,000-square-foot former detention center. The eastern portion of the building was constructed in the late 1960s or early 1970s. The central and western portion of the building was constructed in 1990 (see Figure 1). The building is slab-on-grand and is constructed of stucco over concrete block with a flat membrane roof. Interior surfaces consist of painted block and plaster walls; concrete, vinyl floor tile, and carpet floors; and unfinished, plaster, concrete, and acoustic ceiling tile ceilings
