The project consists of ornamental fence and granite stair repair for Boston Common. Bidders are required to submit a bid deposit equal to 5 percent of their bid, in the form of a bid bond, certified check, treasurer's check, or cashier's check, from a surety company qualified to do business in the Commonwealth and satisfactory to the Commissioner, made payable to the City of Boston. The workforce requirements for this contract are: Minority 40 percent, Boston Resident 51 percent, and Female 12 percent. The successful bidder must provide insurance for payment of compensation and provision of other benefits under the Workmen’s Compensation Law, General Laws chapter 152, to all persons employed under the contract, with sufficient proof of compliance required before starting work. A performance bond and a labor and materials or payment bond, each from a surety company qualified to do business under the laws of the Commonwealth and satisfactory to the Commissioner, each in the sum of 100 percent of the contract price, as well as certain public liability and property damage insurance, are required of the successful general contractor.
