Johnston County plans a full rebuild of Clayton High School on its existing campus in Clayton, North Carolina, following a request from the Johnston County Board of Education for funding exceeding $129 million, with the total project cost cited at approximately $134 million including demolition. The phased project includes demolition of existing facilities, construction of a new main school building with auditorium, cafeteria, administrative offices, media centre, main and auxiliary gyms, a three-storey classroom tower, and extensive athletic and site improvements. Construction is expected to span multiple phases through 2028, with Barnhill Contracting Co. identified to perform early demolition and construction work, and financing to be secured through county-issued limited obligation bonds subject to Board of Commissioners approval
