The work consists of rehabilitation of the main tank, diving platforms, and deck area of the main tank at the Pan Am Pool. The Pan Am Pool area will be closed to the general public for the duration of the project, while the East training tank, locker rooms, East concourse dryland training area, and spaces required to access these areas will remain open to select user groups. Adequate separation protection of the construction areas must be provided to allow this occupancy. The facility is the City of Winnipeg's premier aquatic venue, and all work must comply with tolerances of international aquatics standards. The major components of the work include: general requirements such as coordination, supervision, administration, compliance with qualification requirements for contractors and subcontractors, segregation of construction and public areas, hazardous materials abatement in coordination with the abatement consultant, and traffic control; architectural work including demolition and replacement of tile systems, removal, salvage, refurbishing, and reinstallation of diving and pool components, and coordination of tile installation with structural, mechanical, and electrical work; structural work including concrete repair and installation of anchors and infilling of existing wall penetrations; mechanical work including removal and replacement of main drains, fittings, and associated piping; and electrical work including removal and replacement of bonding systems and demolition of light fixtures. Contractors and subcontractors performing work must meet specified qualification requirements and provide evidence prior to award. The available funds for this contract are $4,700,000.00.
