The project also includes the replacement of the existing bascule bridge over the Miami River with twin fixed single-track bridges. Other improvements include upgrade to the railroad signals, Positive Train Control (PTC), and five at-grade roadway railroad crossings at the Old NW 28 Street, NW South River Drive, NW North River Drive, NW 36 Street and NW 46 Street. Work along crossing streets includes milling, resurfacing, pavement reconstruction, drainage, sidewalk, signing and pavement markings. The existing west side platform at the Hialeah Market Tri-Rail Station will be replaced with a new center platform passenger boarding area with a continuous canopy and at-grade pedestrian crossings.
