Renovation of a mixed-use development in Los Angeles, California. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 126,005-square-foot, eight-story above grade, three-story below grade laboratory facility; and 126,005-square-foot, eight-story above grade, three-story below grade educational facility.

UCLA requests submission of written statements of qualifications for the purpose of selecting an Executive Architect for the Pritzker Hall Renovation and Improvement projects. Pritzker Hall is a 126,005 gsf building comprising eight stories (plus a penthouse) and three below-grade levels, completed in 1967 and last renovated in 2021. Responses should demonstrate familiarity and experience in the design, planning, and programming of campus higher education and research buildings involving renovations, clinical and academic research programs, wet and dry laboratories, and vivaria. The scope includes designing and constructing a series of renovation and infrastructure improvement projects within Pritzker Hall for the Department of Psychology over several years, with each project ranging from $3 million to $10 million, executed through several phased, incremental projects. Each proposed project design shall comply with University of California Policy on Sustainable Practices, meet California Energy Code (Title 24) energy efficiency standards, and aim for a minimum LEED Gold Rating. Designs must apply sustainability principles to systems, components, and portions of the renovated building. The implementation of selected projects depends on funding availability, and the final selection and appointment are contingent upon project approval by the University of California Board of Regents or their delegated authority and compliance with CEQA. This solicitation is intended to award a Professional Services Agreement and a series of Executive Design Professional Agreements for each proposed project. The selection committee will base its review on the identified Selection Criteria. The RFQ is for full design services, but UCLA reserves the right to defer negotiations on services other than pre-design studies until the pre-design phase is complete. All responses must be submitted in compliance with provided instructions and demonstrate equal access and employment opportunity policies, as required. Failure to comply could result in submissions being overlooked. Please review the standard University agreements and contract templates, as significant changes will not be pursued.
