Marten River Campground is located in Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park, 25 km north of the Town of Slave Lake, Alberta. The campground offers 110 powered campsites, a sandy beach, and amenities such as showers, flush toilets, an amphitheatre, and a playground. The existing septic treatment system is nonoperational and unable to meet current demands. Septic waste is being hauled off-site. A preliminary wastewater assessment report completed in 2022 outlines the need for a new septic system to address environmental and financial concerns. The report includes a conceptual design based on local soil and required treatment mounds, noting the current system is not compliant with Alberta's Private Sewage Standards. The staff house and maintenance shop are served by a separate septic tank, which should be considered for future connection in the design calculations. Proposals are invited from qualified proponents with engineering experience for the replacement of the septic system. The successful proponent will provide detailed design, approvals, tender documentation, project management, and construction monitoring services.
