The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is seeking a Contractor to widen State Route 53 in Cannon County at lane mile 13.002 as detailed by Attachment 1. All work shall be completed in accordance with the specifications outlined below. One Contractor will be selected to perform the full scope of services described in this document. 1. Scope of Work The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, traffic control, and material necessary to perform all services and to complete the following tasks, using Attachment 1 for guidance. A. Traffic Control Provide all necessary traffic control devices, signage, and personnel required to safely perform work on an active State route. Ensure all work zones remain protected for the duration of operations at each site and adhere to TDOT Standard Drawings (available in the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction (January 1, 2021), found below) and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Standards. B. Excavation Sawcut a clean joint the full depth of the asphalt along the current eastern edge of the road on the white line, and remove and dispose of all asphalt beyond the sawcut. Excavate material to a depth to accommodate 6.25 inches of asphalt and 10 inches of compacted base stone. C. Widen the Road Place compacted pug base stone, 10 inches thick, in no fewer than two lifts, compacting to 100% density between lifts, and after the final lift, to accommodate the planned widening of the road, as shown in Attachment 1. D. Site Restoration Demobilize and remove all debris from the site. Seed and straw all disturbed areas. Any prospective Respondent having questions and comments concerning this ITB must provide them in writing to the Solicitation Coordinator. All questions must be submitted no later than May 15, 2026, at 2:00 pm CT.
