The project seeks professional planning and engineering technical assistance to conduct a site-specific shoreline assessment at Jennings Beach in Fairfield, Connecticut, and to develop feasible, data-driven conceptual designs for resilience improvements. The focus is on evaluating nature-based solutions and hybrid ("gray green") shoreline resilience approaches that reduce wave energy, mitigate erosion, protect infrastructure, and enhance coastal habitat function. The intent is to support the Town of Fairfield's Flood Prevention, Climate Resilience and Erosion Control Board (FERB) in advancing initiatives to improve coastal resilience and protect critical shoreline and nearshore habitats. The analyses and conceptual designs produced through this scope will help the Town to competitively pursue future state and federal funding for final design, permitting, and construction. The University of Connecticut encourages participation by small, minority-owned, woman-owned, and disabled-owned businesses, as well as Connecticut-based businesses, with instructions to submit proposals through the HuskyBuy Portal. The RFP and scope will be discussed at a pre-proposal conference, and all questions must be submitted via the HuskyBuy Q&A board.
